Stress and aging can affect us in various ways, but there’s a lot we can do to limit its impact on our bodies. Yoga is an excellent anti-stress and anti-aging tool! Yoga is capable of relieving symptoms and in some cases improving medical outcomes. It does not matter where you are starting from or how old you are -- Yoga can help!
Yoga can systematically strengthen different systems in the body, including the heart and cardiovascular system, the lungs, muscles, and the nervous system. Yoga practices can improve function of the digestive system, foster psychological well-being, strengthen muscles and improve oxygen delivery to tissues. Yoga also can help the body more efficiently remove waste products, carcinogens, and cellular toxins. While yoga by itself can alleviate a number of problems, it is particularly effective as a complement to other forms of health care, both alternative and conventional. Yoga Therapy is a holistic approach to health care - using postures, movement, stretches, lifestyle choices, relaxation and breathing practices to address your specific issues. Your decision to enter into Yoga Therapy is a commitment to your health. It can help you prevent injury and illness, manage symptoms and age with more grace and vitality. This is personal. During a one-on-one or small group sessions, I will teach you the Yoga practices best suited for your individual needs and goals.
...and I have been in the Fitness and Wellness industry for over 30 years. I believe that Yoga is for everyone! It does not matter if you perform Yoga lying down, in a chair or standing - there is a Yoga style which can benefit everyone.
I am a Certified Yoga Therapist , as well as a 200 hour and 500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Alliance. I also bring years of experience in Group Fitness, Personal Training (Ace Certified) plus experience as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist having worked in a healthcare as well as community settings.
A Certified Yoga Therapist is not the same as a Yoga Teacher. I am not an Instructor with a therapeutic specialty, nor a teacher with some training in healing Yoga. A Certified Yoga Therapist is a specially-trained professional whose education and experience have been reviewed and approved to meet standards set by the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
